It’s hard to go through the latest fashion collections to discover the trends worth trying on. Moreover, when scrolling through your favorite designers’ collections, questions of whether a trend is actually worth it or not may race through your mind several times. Don’t worry, we are right here to narrow your focus with a curated list of the top looks of Spring 2019.
Hemlines Keep Rising
Back in the 1960s, miniskirts were the symbol of youth, rebellion, and sexual freedom. They’re coming back into the zeitgeist not only on the runway but also on the streets, especially in response to the maxi and midi lengths we’ve favored for many years. On the runway, hemlines rose at many famous brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Stella McCartney; on the street, we saw them in all types of prints, denim, patent leather, and suede.
Back to Black
There are no real street style “rules”, but it has been a common belief that wearing black won’t make you be noticed for the past few years. The way to get the attention of a photographer is fierce – you need color! Things changed drastically this season: we can see both women and men in head-to-toe black and they wear black in interesting and un-minimal ways. Leather harnesses, tulle frocks, and furry accessories are super eye-catching in black, maybe even more so than if they’ve been in a bright color.
It is called escapism or a numbers game, however, the groovy prints of the late 1960s and 1970s were all over the Spring 2019 runways like Paco Rabanne, Etro, and even Dior. It is a trend which we can see immediately reflected on the streets. That “Summer of Love” look, which turned 50 last year, creates a sense of naivety and maybe that’s the reason why it’s coming back around.
